Medicare Cuts
What is going on in Washington, D.C.? It seems that there are still enough Republicans in Congress to prevent passage of legislation that would stop cuts in Medicare payments to doctors and other providers. Are these Republican Congressmen nuts? Cut Medicare? What exactly do you think all these providers will do when they have to settle on an even more reduced rate of payment than they are receiving now? Your decision is going to reduce availability of medical care to seniors and people with disabilities. I hope you have thought about how you are going to explain this to your own parents and grandparents. Politicians these days!
Ladies and gentlemen in Congress, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING?
Sure, I understand that you have to pay for the war(s) and the money has to come from someplace. What about asking big oil companies like Exxon Mobile, which is posting record profits in the face of what is a gas crisis to the rest of us, to pitch in? No. Instead, you decide it makes more sense to compromise the health care of our most fragile and vulnerable citizens. And this makes our country stronger and more secure, how?
Even if you are only capable of doing the right thing when it is to your advantage, you goofed on this one. Hello...this is an election year and you are basically telling one of the most effective and influential blocks of voters that if they vote for you, their level of health care will decline. Brilliant!
Lord, I will be so glad when governance of this great country is once again back in the hands of its people instead of its corporations. At least the American people are capable of humanity, common sense and a commitment to the common good.
